Old Gear, New Chapter

Recently, several longtime pieces of gear in my studio have started moving again.

First, my Genelec 1031A monitors.
After developing a low-frequency issue on one side, they went in for repair and have now safely returned.

Then there is the Access Virus TI2.

For years it had been freezing at the “Welcome” screen during startup, and honestly I had started wondering if it might finally be nearing the end of its life.

Using an old Intel Mac that I had mostly kept around for legacy purposes, I updated the TI2 from OS 1.4 to 5.1.7.

The longtime startup freeze has shown signs of improvement.
It still needs a little observation, but the TI2 has started moving again.

It was one of those moments that reminded me why older tools sometimes deserve to stay.

At the same time, my Metric Halo LIO-8 2nd is now preparing for a future 3d upgrade.

Lately, it feels like several longtime tools are entering new chapters at once.

And within that same flow, “Sparkle,” a track from the 3rd album, is now being revisited and reshaped into something new.

Sounds born in the past sometimes return carrying different light.

最近、長年使ってきた機材たちが少しずつ復活し出しています。

まずはGenelec 1031A。
片側の低域トラブルで修理に出していましたが、無事修理完了。長年聴いてきたモニターが戻ってきました。

そしてもう一つ、Access Virus TI2。

長年、起動時の「Welcome」画面でフリーズする症状があり、正直そろそろ寿命なのかもしれない…と思っていました。

そこで、ほぼレガシー用途として残していた旧Intel Macを使い、OSを1.4から5.1.7へアップデート。

するとWelcomeフリーズは改善。
まだ少し様子見は必要ですが、長年悩まされてきた症状に改善の兆しが見えてきました。

「もう使わないかも」と思っていたIntel Macが、結果的にこのシンセを繋ぎ直してくれたのは少し面白い出来事でした。

さらにMetric Halo LIO-8 2ndも、現在3dアップグレードを準備中です。

なぜか最近、長年使ってきた機材たちがそれぞれ新しい章に入り始めているように感じます。

そしてそんな流れの中で、3rd ALBUM収録曲「Sparkle」も現在新たな形へ向けて制作進行中です。

過去に生まれた音が、また違う光を帯びて動き始めています。

また進展があればお知らせします。

研究施設を思わせるビジュアルを配置しました。

音が鳴っていない時間も含めて、ひとつの“起動状態”として捉えています。

派手なスタートではありませんが、
静かに、確実に、プロジェクトは動き続けています。

本年も、音と物語、そして実験を軸に更新していきます。

On the top page, visual elements themed around SYSTEM READY have been introduced,

evoking the atmosphere of a futuristic research facility.

Even moments of silence are considered part of the system’s active state.

This is not a loud beginning,

but a quiet and deliberate activation.

Throughout the year, this project will continue to explore sound, story, and experimentation.

kNock in Story Project J.M.Cの既存のジャケットの世界観を動画などでもっと表現してみたいと前から思っており、最近、AIを使って動画生成をしてみました。今まで楽曲のイメージだけで作成していたジャケットですが、少しでも動き出すと感動しますね。まだまだ初心者ではあるものの、面白いのでHPのウィジェットにも幾つか生成してみたものを載せてみました。

音楽制作に関しては、現在制作環境の更なる強化に向けて準備を進めています。
オーディオインターフェース、音源モジュール、プラグイン、PC周辺機器など、最新の機材を揃えており、年明け以降はそれらを使って音楽制作に取り組んでいく予定です。新しい曲を皆さんにお届けできたらと思っています。

I’ve always wanted to express the worldview of “kNock in Story Project J.M.C’s existing jacket designs more through videos and other means, so recently I tried generating a video using AI. It’s amazing to see the jacket images, which I’ve previously created based solely on the image of the song, start to move even a little.
I’m still a beginner, but I find it interesting, so I’ve put some of the ones I’ve generated up as widgets on my website.

I’ve also posted this on another page, but listening to music and videos while playing them is even more interesting and changes the impression of the songs, so please take a look if you’re interested.

As for music production, I’m currently preparing to further strengthen my production environment.
I’m currently acquiring the latest equipment, from audio interfaces to sound modules, plug-ins, and PC peripherals, and plan to use them in music production after the new year. I hope to be able to share some new songs with you.

本日、New Single “without you (Refreshing Ver.)”をリリースしました。
オリジナル “without you”のリメイク版になりますが、オリジナルより明るく前向きな世界観をテーマにした、続編のようなストーリー性を持たせた作りになっています。サウンドは比較的大人しい雰囲気にしていますが、より綺麗なイメージで、前作より聞きやすくなったかなと思います。よかったら聴いてみてください！

Today we released our new single “without you (Refreshing Ver.)”.
It’s a remake of the original “without you”, but it has a brighter, more positive worldview than the original, and is made with a storyline like a sequel. The sound has a relatively subdued atmosphere, but it has a cleaner image and is easier to listen to than the previous work. Please give it a listen if you’d like!

“Beyond the blue”から約２ヶ月ぶりの新曲”Labyrinth”をシングルでリリースしました。時空を駆け抜けるような疾走感と緊迫感漂うアップテンポな楽曲です。

今までにないジャケットカラーになり、Minimoogをメインとした、6分を超えるインストゥルメンタルになっています。良かったら聴いてみてください！

The new song “Labyrinth” has been released as a single, about two months after “Beyond the blue.” It’s an up-tempo song that exudes a sense of speed and tension, as if racing through time and space.

The album has a jacket color never seen before, and it’s an instrumental that’s over six minutes long, featuring the Minimoog as the main instrument. Please give it a listen if you’d like!
